NZ Pilsner


Our generously hopped Pilsner takes the Bohemian style of aromatic lager and reforms it with a generous dose of Nelson grown hops. Citrus, spice and tropical fruit float over a sweet malt base before a firm bitter finale. A revelation of Kiwi ingenuity
Tasting Notes:
A heady cocktail of tropical and citrus hop aromas give way to a superbly balance d palate supporting zesty hop flavour with pale sweet malt.

Amber


New World Best Bitter


Amber takes the rich caramel toffee malt character and bright fruity hop aroma of an American Amber Ale and combines it with the drinkability of an English Best Bitter. The result is a fruity , malty highly sessionable beer designed to be low enough in alcohol to drink all night and flavourful enough to remain interesting.Initially designed to satisfy the Friday night regulars at Long Beach, Amber combines two of Head Brewer Kieran Haslett-Moore‘s favourite styles and results in a beer that is highly drinkable but never boring
Tasting Notes:
Aromas of marmalade and grapefruit combine with caramel and a hint of chocolate, in the mouth the beer is rounded with a firm biscuit malt character with hints of toffee, caramel and chocolate balanced by a lightly resinous citrus hop character leading to a rounded dry finish.

Barbequed steak, roast lamb, steak tartar , maasdam cheese.

Field Way A.P.A


NZ Pale Ale


Our hop forward pale ale takes its name from the Field Way surf break. Field Way combines 4 different fruity New Zealand grown hop varieties to create complex aromas and flavours of sweet lemon, lime, and mandarin marmalade with a hint of the herb garden. To balance all this zesty hop character we use one of our favourite base malts, the Pale Ale Malt from the Malteurope Maltings at Marton in the Rangitikei and a dash of toffee tinged caramalt malt from the Bairds Maltings in Scotland. The result is a hoppy fruity yet well balanced pale ale that makes a perfect foil to a chilli oil laced pizza at Long Beach.
Tasting Notes:
Sweet lemon, lime, mandarin, herbal notes, and melon fruit aromas lead into a palate that balances zesty hops with toffee and biscuity malt flavours and a long dry finish.

Extra Special Bitter


 Strong Bitter


Our Extra Special Bitter takes the classic malty, fruity London style of pale ale and injects a dose of zesty locally grown hops. New Zealand mild malt, is blended with English crystal malt, sugar and torrified wheat to create a rich complex malt backbone to the beer. We then balance all that malt with New Zealand grown Wye Challenger, Pacifica and Cascade hops before bringing everything together with our marmalady London ESB yeast. The result is a bold fruity highly drinkable beer that is the perfect restorative after a hard day at the mill.
Tasting Notes:
Marmalade, tangerine zest, berry fruit, toffee, ginger loaf and bready malt all vie for attention in the nose. In the mouth the beer is richly malty with an initial sweet caramelised malt character quickly balanced by fruity drying hop bitterness.

Pacific Blonde


New World Kolsch


A Kiwi take on the German Kolsch style. The city of Cologne is known for its crisp, clean, refreshing golden ales that combine elements of lager and ale brewing techniques. We have taken the style and have injected some fruity New Zealand hops into the equation making for an unmistakably pacific tinged interpretation of the style. Kolsch style beers are popular in the brewpubs of North America where American brewers have taken their love of big hops and have introduced their own hop varieties into the style. We have taken our cue from the American brewers and have used two Nelson grown hop varieties Pacific Jade and Pacifica to give Pacific Blond a lightly herbal, citrus edge.
Tasting Notes:
Aromas of nutty malt, hay and herbal hops combine before a crisp dry palate with lemony hop notes and a long dry finish.

Super Alpha


Pacific Pale Ale


Super Alpha is a hoppy refreshing pacific pale ale that uses the crisp tartness of wheat malt and a blast of fruity New Zealand hops to create a crisp refreshing beer. Initially designed by Head Brewer Kieran Haslett-Moore to wash the taste of sea water from his mouth after hauling in his crab pot,Super Alpha takes it’s name from an unusual variety of New Zealand hop that gives the beer its trademark lemon grass character. The ultimate end to a summer’s day.
Tasting Notes:
Aromas of lemongrass, citrus zest, and coriander give way to flavours of nutty wheat and Thai spice with a hint of sweet malt which cushions a lemony hop character before a long crisp savoury finish.

White fish, shell fish, crustaceans, Thai dishes, chicken, veal.

A sessionable English style bitter that combines NZ grown English hop varieties , NZ and British malt and our fruity English yeast strain.
Tasting Notes:
A lightly fruity nose gives way to a robustly malt accented palate with a smooth dry finish.
